Bachelor Village Resort, so you need to call in advance to be sure it is available before booking. And if it’s not, you need to take your pet somewhere else.

Mt. Bachelor Village Resort is the perfect place to stay for exploring the great outdoors of Bend, Oregon!

Of course, everything else this resort in Bend has to offer may just make it worth the hassle. On the property are a fitness center, six tennis courts, basketball courts, three swimming pools, and a spa. For the kids, there are also two smaller pools, plus a playground.

When you get hungry, there is a restaurant on the property, and a bar if you want to relax with a drink at the end of a long day. During the day, you can rent a bike or just walk the nearby trails.

The Mt. Bachelor ski resort is only 18 miles away, and River’s Edge Golf course is only a 13-minute drive from the hotel. And with the Bend city center just over a mile away, you have access to shops, restaurants, and anything else you may want to do while in the area.

Pronghorn Resort Bend

There are three championship golf courses located on the resort, The Meadows, Crosswater, and Woodlands. Each has its own special features and layout for you to try out.

We love the setting of Sunriver Resort.

There are also indoor and outdoor tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a children’s pool, fitness facilities, a full-service spa, a library, and even a grocery and convenience store for you to stock up on supplies while you’re here. You can rent bicycles or do some fishing as well.

There are four restaurants on the property, plus room service is available during limited hours. A bar/lounge and a poolside bar give the grownups some refreshments while the kids play.

  • Overturf Park – There is an off-leash area for dogs to run around in near the Skyliner Summit Loop, with shaded areas, trails, and waste disposal stations.
  • Ruffwear Dog Park – The Mt. Bachelor Resort has its own dog park on the west end of the West Village parking area. There is a snow-play area, which is groomed for the dogs to enjoy. Waste bags are provided.
  • Wanoga Sno-Park – There are numerous trails to enjoy off leash, though they must be leashed in the sno-parks and on the sledding hills.
  • Pine Nursery Park – The off-leash area is fenced off, with many paved and unpaved trails to explore and a large grassy area for running loose. Free poop bags are provided, and there are water fountains for humans and pets, plus a restroom for owners.
  • Big Sky Park – There are two separate fenced off areas for off-leash play here. They feature many walking trails, plus have picnic tables for owners to have lunch while their dogs play. There is also a water spigot and a portable toilet. An unfenced area is also available for leashed dogs to play.
  • Awbrey Butte Reservoir – The park is partially fenced off, with five acres of trails for your dog to enjoy off leash.
  • Hollinshead Park – There are three acres of land, covered with rolling grass trees for ample shade. The off-leash area is partially fenced off, plus there are a community garden and a restored barn for leashed walks.
  • Ponderosa Park – This area is fully fenced, with a separate area for small dogs. There are also picnic shelters nearby for added comfort.
  • Riverbend Dog Park – The fenced area is one acre, with grassy areas and a rocky beach with access to the river.

Go Hiking (or Biking)

Just because you have a room at one of the pet friendly hotels in Bend, Oregon, it doesn’t mean you want to spend all day there. This is especially true when you consider just how many trails for hiking and biking there are in the area.

For instance, the Oregon Desert Trail is 750 miles long, though you don’t have to try it all in one day. There are also the Upper Deschutes River Trail, Farewell Bend River trail loop, Sisters Mirror Lake Loop, and Metolius River Trail. There are trails to Tumalo Falls and another Tumalo Mountain hike.

Todd Lake, Sparks Lake, and Green Lake all have their own trails as well, each with different lengths and scenic views to enjoy.

Remember to check out the distance before you start, and pack the proper essentials, like food, water, and even toilet paper if needed.

Take Fido to the Lake

  • McKay Cottage Restaurant – This location has been awarded Best Breakfast in Central Oregon for the last eight years. They also serve award winning lunches out on the patio while you gaze at the Deschutes River with your pet.
  • Broken Top Bottle Shop – This is more than just a brewpub, it offers tasty and healthy food, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options for all their guests. Even the dogs have their own menu, though you may have to read it to them.
  • Longboard Louie’s – Authentic Mexican dishes are what’s on the menu here. It is all fresh, with large portions, and even vegetarian and vegan options are available. And there is plenty of outdoor seating for you and your pet to enjoy.
  • Parilla Grill – Wraps, burritos, and tacos are on the menu at this Mexican restaurant, as well as craft brews and other refreshing drink options.
  • La Magie Bakery -This bakery cafe has freshly baked desserts, bread, and pastries available daily, plus serve a tasty breakfast and lunch that include omelettes, French toast, grilled salmon, and even a teriyaki burger. Dogs are welcome at many of the tables outside.

Pet Friendly Events

A K9 Keg Pull is hosted by the Sunriver Brewing Company in the winter time. There is a 150-foot snow runway, with dogs put into keg-pulling categories by weight.

There is also The Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration & Pet Parade to check out, where children of all ages bring their pets to parade through the downtown area. All pets are welcome, from the smallest lizard to the largest horses, and even stuffies make the cut.

The American Cancer Society Bark for Life hosts a non-competitive walk for dogs and owners. The purpose is to raise funds for cancer research and to raise awareness at the same time.
