Vineyards may be hard to come by in Central Oregon, but there is no shortage of wineries, especially in Bend. And who doesn’t enjoy a glass of carefully selected wine when on vacation or spending time with friends?
Here you will find quite a variety of wine tasting experiences, from the laid-back, friendly atmosphere of Naked Winery to the wide selection of over 600 labels at The Wine Shop and Beer Tasting Bar.
Some of the winery owners have even managed to grow their vines through painstaking trial and error, overcoming the drastic temperature fluctuations that are common in the high desert area.

Portello Winecafe
More than just a winery, Portobello Winecafe has been serving a full lunch and dinner menu as well as sweets that pair perfectly with their selection of wines and beers since 2006.
Plan your visit accordingly to take advantage of their specials during the week. Every Monday evening and Tuesday during lunch, the wines on their glass list are only $5 each. They also have Happy Hour deals Tuesday through Friday from 4-6 pm.
All of their wines on their glass and bottle menu are available to go as well. Ask about their special discount on wines to go and on purchases of 4+ bottles or case orders.

Naked Winery
Naked Winery offers a laid-back atmosphere and a lighthearted approach to the winery experience. They strive to make good wine, not in the hopes of winning recognition or some sort of award but because they truly want to bring people together.
If you love their wine, you should consider their Club Naked membership. It offers benefits at three of their tasting rooms as well as on their website – for those times you can’t get there in person.
They currently have four tasting rooms in Central Oregon, including one in Bend’s Old Mill District, with plans to open another in Vancouver, Washington by the end of 2020.

Va Piano Vineyards
Just down the road is another great winery – Va Piano Vineyards – ideal for those who are looking for something a little classier.
They started in Washington state in the owner’s home town of Walla Walla. A favorite vacation spot of the owner and his family, Bend inevitably became a target area to open an additional tasting room beyond the Walla Walla home vineyard.
The Bend location offers a beautiful riverfront view. Combined with Bend’s 300 days of sunshine, you are sure to enjoy your visit.

The Good Drop Wine Shoppe
If you are looking for one of the best wine selections in the Pacific Northwest, you definitely want to plan a stop at The Good Drop Wine Shoppe.
They carry quite the variety from around the globe, including wine, champagne, port, and sake. You can also find all of the drinking accessories you will ever need, from glassware to gift bags.
Book a private event in the downstairs room or just rent it out for a special tasting with friends and family.

The Wine Shop and Beer Tasting Bar
Whether it’s a his and hers date night or simply a ladies’ day out, the Wine Shop and Beer Tasting Bar has something for everyone.
This Bend winery offers quite a unique experience, combining an international wine shop with a wine and beer bar. Here you will find over 600 wine labels from around the world, 30 of which are available by the glass or flight, and 16 tap handles featuring Belgian and craft beers, cider, and mead.
Want a little something to pair nicely with that Chardonnay? The Wine Shop also offers an extensive cheese and charcuterie menu.

Elixir Wine Group
For nearly two decades, Elixir Wine Group has been producing and importing fine wines from around the globe – specifically from family-owned wineries – to serve at their wine bar and tasting room.
Starting small, they featured wines from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Baja California. However, a few years back, they decided to extend their portfolio to include fine wines from Oregon, Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy as well.
At their location in Bend, you can shop their entire portfolio as well as enjoy their rotating selection.

Faith, Hope and Charity Vineyards
Just outside of Bend in Terrebonne you will find Faith, Hope and Charity Vineyards surrounded by the Three Sisters mountain range.
It took a lot of hard work and dedication to mature their vines, finding a way around the short growing season and drastic temperature changes in the high desert area. In 2015, they had their first successful harvest.
Now, you can enjoy their wines in their tasting room, take them home with you, or even plan your next outdoor event at the vineyard. Stop in on Saturday evenings from 6-9 pm for live music too!
Cork Cellars Wine & Bistro
Another place to try some great wine right outside of Bend is Cork Cellars Wine & Bistro in Sisters.
A great glass of wine should be paired with a decent meal, and that’s just what you will find here. They have a full lunch and dinner menu as well as tapas and appetizers like their assortment of olives.
You can also find special events at Cork, including free tastings and live music. Be sure to check their site for a full calendar of events.

Maragas Winery
Nestled between Smith Rock and the seven peaks of the Cascades, Maragas Winery in Culver, Oregon has been making great wine since 1999.
They are able to maintain a microclimate for their vines that is suitable for several European grape varieties as well as French American hybrids. The volcanic soil is also ideal for water drainage, allowing the vines to grow and thrive.
They have fun events throughout the year, including their annual Halloween party. You can also reserve the vineyard for your wedding or special event, taste their wines in-house or even enjoy a bit of the winemaking process.
